Rather than limiting the conversation to acts and consequences, the session invited participants to reflect on the underlying human, relational, and social factors that can contribute to aggressive behaviour.

Led by Dr. Kavi Vadamootoo, psychotherapist, psychoanalyst and artist, together with Alain Muneean, the workshop drew on psychoanalytic thought and culturally grounded practice to examine how early experiences, emotional wounds, and social contexts may shape behaviour. Both facilitators are trainers in the MQA-accredited programme Guidance to Therapeutic Work and encouraged participants to adopt a more reflective and clinically informed posture when working with situations of violence. At the conclusion of the workshop, staff who had completed one and a half years of training in the programme received their certificates, marking a significant milestone in their professional development.

The programme also featured contributions from practitioners trained in psychoanalytic thinking and art therapy. Through accounts drawn from their field experience, they demonstrated how structured therapeutic support can create conditions for expression, insight, and behavioural change.

More than a standalone initiative, the workshop forms part of Terre de Paix’s sustained investment over the past decade in strengthening professional competencies and promoting thoughtful, ethically grounded responses to complex social realities. By cultivating critical reflection and dialogue, the organisation continues to support approaches to violence that combine responsibility with psychological depth and cultural awareness.
