When her mother-in-law was preparing to retire and close the association, Laura Natchayan joined forces with a group of women from Olivia to keep Solidarité Mamans running in 2023.
Faced with the urgent needs of children and families in the area, these compassionate women decided to take action without delay. Since January 2026, the association has operated from a building in Olivia, generously made available by a local company. Located just a few metres from Cité EDC, the centre currently supports 40 children aged between three and 12.
Every weekday, the association’s three volunteers arrive as early as 6.30 a.m. to welcome the children. They provide breakfast, prepare each child for school and ensure that everyone receives a packed lunch.
In the afternoon, the children return to the centre, where they can complete their homework, receive remedial support and enjoy a snack. The youngest children are also given time to rest before returning home.
Many of the children supported by Solidarité Mamans experience learning difficulties at school and require additional guidance and encouragement.
Laura and the other women have largely financed the activities from their own pockets. They are now seeking support to continue providing this safe and caring environment for the children of Olivia.
