Since its founding in 1993, the Mouvement pour le Progrès de Roche Bois (MPRB) has been a driving force for positive change in Roche Bois. Born from a community mobilisation against the nuisance of a nearby pig farm, the organisation has evolved into a trusted community hub dedicated to improving the lives of children, young people and families.

Today, MPRB supports around 200 beneficiaries through a wide range of programmes designed to respond to local needs. "Our activities are built around four essential dimensions of human development: intellectual, emotional, physical and spiritual intelligence," explains Stéphane Denidal, Manager of MPRB.  From academic support, sports and theatre to arts, nutrition education, psychological support and Latin dance, every activity aims to help young people build confidence, resilience and life skills.

One of the organisation's flagship initiatives is the Club de Lecture, which has provided after-school support to primary school pupils since 2001. Beyond homework assistance, children explore activities such as drama and permaculture, encouraging creativity and environmental awareness.

As a member of the Adolescents Non-Formal Education Network (ANFEN), MPRB also supports out-of-school adolescents through non-formal education, helping them strengthen their academic foundations and prepare for future careers. Functional literacy classes are also offered to adults, promoting lifelong learning within the community.

Looking ahead, MPRB plans to expand its successful small-scale broiler farming project into a larger training initiative. The project will equip children with practical agricultural skills while promoting food self-sufficiency, reinforcing the organisation's commitment to empowering communities through sustainable development.
