A dedicated space designed to nurture the wellbeing and development of its young residents. This carefully curated compound includes a library, a play therapy room stocked with a wide variety of toys, a sand therapy room, and sensory rooms inspired by the Snoezelen concept.

The sensory rooms offer a safe, soothing, and stimulating environment that encourages children to express themselves freely. As Annabelle Ayelou, Head of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support, explains, the thoughtful integration of lights, sounds, textures, and scents helps children ground themselves, relax, and begin processing trauma at their own pace. These sessions also foster trust and bonding between therapists and the children.

Importantly, these rooms are not limited to structured therapy sessions. Children are welcome to use them whenever they feel overwhelmed or simply need a quiet space to unwind.

Snoezelen Sensory Room concept

The Snoezelen sensory room concept originated in the Netherlands in the 1970s, developed by Jan Hulsegge and Ad Verheul. It was initially designed to support individuals with specific needs - particularly those with disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, sensory processing challenges, or emotional and behavioral difficulties.

Today, Snoezelen rooms are recognized for their broader benefits. They offer a calming, multi-sensory environment that can help anyone experiencing emotional distress, sensory overload, or going through a difficult time.
