The Haven: A "half-way house" which is open to young women from the age of 18 who have known very little of anything else but life in an institution (shelter, correctional centre etc.) This is a place where each young woman has the opportunity to take time to explore her potential, find out about her own abilities and be guided into purposeful life choices.

Bénéficiaires:

Young women leaving an institution at the age of 18 with no place to go. A maximum of 20 at any one time.

Since 2004 GCF has been involved in various community projects: distribution of groceries, clothes & blankets, annual Christmas Fun Day for needy children around the island, literacy programme, home for needy girls...

The objectives for 'The Haven' are as follows:
To provide:
- a safe place;
- individual counselling and follow-up;
- appropriate training/apprenticeships;
- the possibility of permanent employment, with a view to seeing each individual independent - financially, emotionally and mentally - in the space of 2-3 years

As The Haven is a new project, it is difficult to talk of achievements ! But we look forward to being able to see young women 'affranchies' and independent; who will be able to hold their heads high and confront anything that life would throw at them!
