History

Yeshua Fellowship was founded on 10 August 2014 by the Auckoo, Khadaroo, and Purmanund families, driven by a shared mission to uplift vulnerable communities and empower youth through Christian humanitarian aid, social development, and rights-based outreach.

Initially operating informally, the Fellowship focused on evangelism, youth engagement, and community awareness in underserved regions. In October 2018, Yeshua Fellowship was officially registered as an NGO, marking a new phase of structured growth. The organization launched its flagship initiative; the Family Empowerment Program (FEP), which now operates in 19 communities across Mauritius, offering holistic support in health, education, social welfare, and economic empowerment.

Over time, Yeshua Fellowship expanded its scope by integrating internationally recognized programs resulting from our affiliations, to address broader societal challenges.  Our affiliations include:

  • Youth for Human Rights International – Mauritius Chapter, was launched in June 2019.  The program focuses on educating youth and communities about the 30 articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, promoting justice, equality, and peace through workshops, campaigns, and summits.
  • United for Human Rights – Mauritius Chapter, was launched in 2020 and works alongside Youth for Human Rights to extend human rights education to adults and institutions thus fostering a culture of dignity and respect.
  • Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) – Mauritius Chapter was launched in 2021.  It investigates and reports human rights violations in mental health care, advocates for ethical reforms and provide legal and therapeutic support to survivors.
  • Foundation for a Drug-Free World – Mauritius Chapter was launched in 2022.  It provides factual drug education and prevention resources, engages youth in creative outreach and supports families affected by substance abuse through referrals and rehabilitation pathways.
  • The Way to Happiness – Mauritius Chapter was launched in December 2023.  It promotes ethical living and moral values through the 21 precepts that encourage personal responsibility, kindness, and community service.

Today, Yeshua Fellowship and its affiliated programs form a unified network of humanitarian, educational, and advocacy initiatives under your leadership—committed to building a self-sustainable Mauritius where every individual can live with dignity, purpose, and hope.
