We-Recycle
Founded as an NGO in December 2016, We-Recycle is dedicated to educating the public, collecting recyclables, and influencing policies, legislation, and recycling programmes to help keep Mauritius clean and green.
The organisation focuses on removing recyclable plastics (PET, HDPE, LDPE, and PP) and aluminium cans from the solid waste stream. By diverting these materials from landfills and the ocean, the initiative leads to a cleaner environment with less unsightly and unhealthy litter across the island. We-Recycle plays a crucial role in waste management by promoting sustainable waste disposal practices.
We-Recycle strongly believes in the power of teamwork. This belief is reflected in its collaborative efforts with the government, local authorities, the private sector, youth, and community groups to achieve its mission and make a lasting, positive impact on the local environment and society.

Waste Collection for Recycling
Our trucks collect PET, cans, and other types of plastics daily from public and private eco-bins in Black River and Savanne, as well as specific locations in Plaines Wilhems. PET bottles are picked up by our service provider, while cans and other plastics are delivered by our NGO to service providers for recycling.
Learning Workshops
Our signature learning programme is available to companies and schools upon request. We educate participants on the different types of plastics that can be collected for recycling in Mauritius, the dangers of plastic pollution, and the importance of waste sorting and recycling.
Advocacy
Our NGO regularly engages with the general public to raise awareness about plastic pollution and the need for recycling. We conduct awareness campaigns, collection campaigns, and beach clean-ups in collaboration with companies, local authorities, and other NGOs.
Beneficiaries: Our services benefit the population of Black River (85,000 inhabitants) and Savanne District (68,000 inhabitants).
We-Recycle was established as an NGO in December 2016 with a core mission to educate the public, collect recyclables, and influence the development of policies, legislation, and recycling programmes aimed at keeping Mauritius clean and green.
The organisation began with a single pick-up vehicle and a small group of dedicated volunteers in Black River. Over the years, We-Recycle has grown substantially. Today, the team comprises seven members, and the operation has expanded to include two trucks that service the areas of Black River, Savanne, and selected parts of Plaines Wilhems. This growth reflects We-Recycle's commitment to improving waste management and promoting sustainable practices throughout the island.
Mission
To educate, to collect for recycling and to help shape policies, legislation and recycling programmes that will help keep Mauritius clean and green.

A sustainable future where recycling waste is managed responsibly, and recycling becomes part of the Nation's DNA.
