History

Since 2012, Lovebridge Mauritius has been working closely with families across the country to help them advance in these six pillars. We provide psychosocial support and guidance, assisting families in making decisions and taking actions that will have a positive impact on all family members.

Objectives

Operating since 2012, Lovebridge offers support to vulnerable families across Mauritius. Their specialized psychosocial accompaniment is structured around six fundamental and interrelated pillars: education, employment, nutrition, housing, health, and the crucial psychosocial dimension (MASCO: motivation, attitude, skills, courage).

Main achievements

1. Between 2016 and 2021:

  • 4,000 individuals supported 
  • 70 families empowered 
  • 9 districts covered -
  • 22% improvement on a more convenient place at home dedicated to children’s education 
  • 33% improvement in children’s school material 
  • 24% improvement in children’s attitude towards education

 

2. Research

Commissioned a research on the Lovebridge Accompaniment model, carried out by the University of Mauritius in 2018 entitled: Long term holistic accompaniement of families living in poverty in the Republic of Mauritius: A case study of Lovebridge model"

Conclusions of the research:

  • Psychosocial accompaniment on 6 pillars is an essential tool in the fight against poverty
  • Partnership among stakeholders works 
  • Efforts need to be sustained over the long term to break the cycle of poverty

 

3. Between 2021 and 2024:

  • Accompanied 422 families (around 1700 individuals) 
  • Decrease in absenteeism by 20% among secondary school children 
  • Increase by 62% in children’s willingness to learn
  • 62% of progress in parents’ engagement in their children’s education
