Our organisation is managed by a dedicated committee of nine members, including the President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Executive Members.

 

Our school team includes experienced and passionate professionals:

Together, we work hand-in-hand with families to create a nurturing, inclusive, and inspiring environment for our students.

A.P.E.B.S. is a special needs school that supports children in many areas, including:

  • Life skills (learning to take care of themselves and their daily needs)
  • Academic support, similar to primary school subjects, adapted to each child’s level and needs 
  • Sports
  • Dance
  • Creative workshops (art, music, crafts)
  • Baking
  • Personal development through workshops and training for future jobs
History

The Association des Parents d’Enfants aux Besoins Spéciaux (A.P.E.B.S.) is a non-profit organisation based in Mauritius. Since 1990, we have been dedicated to providing specialised education to children with intellectual and developmental challenges who are unable to follow the mainstream school system. Founded by a group of committed parents and volunteers, A.P.E.B.S. was born from a strong belief; that every child, regardless of their abilities, deserves access to quality education and a safe, supportive learning environment.

 

We are recognised by the Ministry of Education as a Special Education Needs (SEN) school.

Main achievements

Over the years, A.P.E.B.S. has achieved many milestones, including:

  • Several students successfully passed the PSAC exams demonstrating academic progress and effectiveness of inclusive teaching approach.
  • Providing continuous psychological support to students and their families
  • Offering speech therapy sessions to help children improve their speaking and writing skills
  • Advocating for inclusion and equal opportunities for all persons with disabilities

These successes reflect our belief in the ability of every child to progress when given the right tools and support.
